Rent a Mom in Pittsburgh started in 2018 around a kitchen table in Squirrel Hill, after our co-founder Anna realized two things at once : she desperately needed help with her newborn, and most of her friends did too. There were big national caregiver platforms, but nothing local, nothing warm, nothing that felt like calling a friend's mom.
So we built it. We hand-pick every caregiver, meet them in person, and keep the network deliberately small. About 40 caregivers covering Greater Pittsburgh : Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Mt Lebanon, Highland Park, the South Hills, and out to Sewickley. We know each of them by name.
"We don't want to be the biggest. We want to be the service you remember as the one that made a hard week easier."
What we believe
Care is a job, not a favor. Our caregivers are paid fairly. Most of them have been with us for years. That stability shows up in the quality of the support you get.
Families know what they need. We don't sell packages or upsell. We ask, we listen, we match, and we stay out of the way unless something goes wrong.
Trust comes from boring, careful work. Background checks, reference calls, CPR certifications, ongoing training. The unglamorous foundations of a service you can actually rely on.
Where we work
We currently serve Greater Pittsburgh, PA. Our caregivers travel up to 25 minutes from their home base, which covers most of the city and the inner suburbs. If you're outside that radius, get in touch anyway : we sometimes make it work, and we'd rather hear from you than have you guess.
Outside Pittsburgh? We don't currently operate elsewhere, but we can point you to similar small, careful services in a few other cities.
